Rekhachithram Movie Review: The Malayalam murder mystery thriller film ‘Rekhachithram’ has become a blockbuster hit, grossing over Rs. 50 crore at the box office. The film stars Asif Ali, Anaswara Rajan, and Manoj K Jayan in the lead roles, while Mammootty appears in a cameo role through AI.
The film was released during Pongal. However, recently the movie was streamed on the Sony Liv OTT platform. Let’s see how much this movie has impressed the OTT audience in the review.
Rekhachithram Movie Story:
Vivek (Asif Ali), a Kerala police officer, is suspended from his job due to his betting habit. However, the authorities reinstate him in the murder case of a young woman.
During the shooting of Mammootty's iconic 1985 film 'Kaathodu Kathoram', an old man named Rajendran (Siddhikhi) reveals in a Facebook live video that he and two other people murdered a girl named Rekha (Anaswara Rajan). With this, the case is reopened. Whether Vivek will solve this murder case that took place 40 years ago or not.. is something that you have to watch to find out.
Rekhachithram Movie Analysis:
How a suspended inspector solves a murder case that happened 40 years ago.. is interesting. Malayalam writers and directors, who impress the audience with slow-burn thrillers, have once again shown their uniqueness in this genre with 'Rekhachitra'.
This film will thrill the audience with solid performances from the lead casting and an impressive murder mystery plot. Director Jofin T Chacko has succeeded in elevating the twists in this film perfectly.
Asif Ali impressed with his solid performance as usual. It was interesting to see what tricks he takes to solve a murder case from 40 years ago. Anaswara Rajan in the role of Rekha has brought more depth to the story of this film.
The director has tried to show the new era in Malayalam cinema through the role of Anaswara. We see fans who worship their favorite hero like a god in this film. The fact that Mammootty's character was shown through AI during the shooting of the film 'Kaathodu Kathoram' is impressive.
Although there are many positive aspects in this film.. there are also some negative aspects. Like other Malayalam thriller films, Rekha also lost track in terms of pace. Many scenes seem to move slowly. Those who like fast thrillers may not like the scenes in this film. The story of this film is somewhat annoying due to the slow pace.
Technical Category:
The screenplay of Rekhachimtra looks very new. John Mantrikal and Ramu Sunil have hooked the audience with their screenplay. Along with the solid story provided by Ramu Sunil, the technical aspects of this film have come together wonderfully.
The visuals provided by Appu Prabhakar with his cinematography are impressive. Shamir Muhammad's editing work also makes the drama of the film connect with the audience. Mujeeb Majeed's music is a perfect set for the mystery elements of the film.

Conclusion:
Overall, 'Rekhachimtra' impresses the audience with its own storytelling as well as its gripping screenplay. The shooting conditions of the film of the 80s have been shown in an eye-catching way. The audience will connect with the issue of whether a murder case will be solved like this.
In addition, solid performances and brilliant work by the technical team make this a compelling movie. However, due to the slow pace, some interesting scenes also seem routine. Those who like mystery thriller films can try the movie ‘Rekhachimtra’.
